We are always so humbled by the stories we receive from parents who share the ways Count the Kicks has made a difference in the healthy birth of their babies, and this was no exception. We were honored to have Iowa Public Radio share the story of Baby William’s healthy birth thanks to his diligent mom, Megan, who Counted the Kicks during pregnancy and knew something wasn’t quite right. Welcome to the first official blog post from Count the Kicks, a campaign designed to teach mothers to monitor fetal movement during the third trimester of pregnancy. This simple, no-cost practice has been shown to have the potential to reduce stillbirth, which occurs in one in every 150 pregnancies in the United States. Healthy Birth Day, the 501(c)3 nonprofit behind the Count the Kicks campaign is proud to spread the word about the importance of Counting the Kicks, and we hope you will help us in our quest to save babies!

The Heller Family will tell you that Counting the Kicks saves lives. Watch this touching story of how monitoring her baby’s movements during the third trimester of pregnancy alerted this mom when her baby was in trouble. A quick call to the doctor followed by a trip to the hospital and baby Abigail was born healthy, despite her umbilical cord being wrapped around her neck several times.
